How specific time and place determine the social and cultural construction of identity?

Along the interdisciplinary unit, we have learned topics related to the latinamerican identity, colonial tourism, our past and the present. In all of the subjects, the objective was accomplished. The goal is to demonstrate if specific time and place determines the social and cultural construction of identity.

This is true due to the fact that all of the events and perspectives change according to a community's location and period of time. The fact previously mentioned can be evidenced in the comparison between a problematic country and a peaceful country. The problematic country has daily conflicts; so, the conflicts seem normal. However, in a peaceful country, the conflicts seem severe and abnormal.

Also, thanks to the concept of identity a place and culture can be identified. And  as a result, an identity is different and unique in the perspective of the world, and united in a specific time and place.

Additionally, the past affects the present. For instance, latinamerican's government and communities did not solve the conflicts such as violence and poverty from the beginning, and that is why nowadays the conflicts are bigger and worse than in the past.
Finally, the false ideas of superiority between countries and even continents can affect our identity. This can be seen in the situation of colonial tourism. Colonial tourism is based on the indifference of Europe or other "more developed" continents and "inferior" continents like Latinamerica.

To conclude, it can be stated that a specific time and place determines the social and cultural construction of identity due to important concepts such as identity, the past, perspectives and the false thoughts of superiority.

What is the role of artistic manifestations in the construction of the social and cultural identity?

The role of artistic manifestations in the construction of the social and cultural identity is very important thanks to the fact that they help us to express feelings and ideas through a unique meaningful way and with significative elements. Art is one of the best manners to construct the identity because it is an authentic way of expression.

How does the creation of your album or cover help you constructing your own identity as a member of Latin-American community?

The creation of my cover helps me to construct my own identity as a member of Latin-American community because an artistic manifestation can shape and help to find out the identity of someone. My cover has taught me to accept and not to judge people, to approve and promote equality and to communicate my ideas through significant elements. For instance, my artwork is based on the conflict of racism and each color represents something in it: gray = union; white = light-skinned people; and black = dark-skinned people.
