Connection: Final product ↔ Latin american identity

Interdisciplinary Subjects

Along the interdisciplinary unit, we have learned various concepts and topics. In Art class, we have analyzed our identity as latinos reflected in artistic manifestations, imagined ideas and themes to create an artwork, and justified statements to affirm our perspective.

The final project of Art is an Intaglio printing which was made with a metal plate, some chemicals, paintings, effort, patience and dedication. This printing will be the cover of an album about the latin american identity made in Music class.
My final product in Art class is an Intaglio Aquatint printing based on the current conflict of racism. It is a monochromatic artwork and like I established in my second proposal, each color has a meaning related to my conflict:
Black: The black color represents the people of dark skin.
White: The white color represents the light-skinned people.
Gray: The gray color represents the solution for the conflict of racism and the union that should exist between people of different races.
The connection between my artwork and the latin american identity is that my product reflects a conflict that happens every day in latin america through its colors and purpose, the racism. The message I want to transmit is to solve the problems and conflicts among people of different races by unifying them and accepting the differences.
